Biography - Alan Lash, CPA

Alan Lash has been sought after by various entities throughout United States, Canada and United Kingdom for his outstanding accounting services and professional regulatory expertise. Mr. Lash has been an independent consultant serving financial institutions and key members of the financial and futures services industry for over 20 years. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange and its Disciplinary Committee has recently had the honor of having Mr. Lash serve on the committee.

Upon obtaining the status of a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Lash has been thriving as an entrepreneur. Prior to running his own consulting business, however, Mr. Lash solidified his expertise in the regulatory scheme and framework of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and member oversight of the National Futures Association (NFA).

Mr. Lash began his career in 1979 at Laventhol & Horwath, CPA, as a senior accountant responsible for auditing clients and preparing financial statements and tax returns. He first rose to prominence in the futures industry after working as an audit manager at a commodities exchange.

Appointed as advisor to the Exchange Admissions Committee

Appointed as advisor to the Exchange Access Committee, Vice Chairman of the Joint Audit Committee, and participated in the Macroeconomic Supervision Committee to analyze market volatility. He also conducts seminars and actively liaises with the New York Stock Exchange, the CFTC, the National Futures Association and other domestic exchanges on various regulatory matters.

Work as a trader

Gaining practical experience as a Commodity Floor Trader on the New York Mercantile Exchange enabled him to solidify hands-on knowledge of executing contracts, various trading strategies, technical analysis and floor operations. At Elders Futures Inc., as a Vice President and Financial Controller, Mr. Lash oversaw the financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, monthly management reports, profit center reporting, and regulatory reporting for one of the largest FCMs in the industry.

Appointed as Audit Manager and Deputy Director of the National Futures Association

prior to becoming an independent consultant in 1990, he was appointed as an Audit Manager and Associate Director of the National Futures Association, where he was responsible for the auditing department of the Eastern Region of the NFA, ensuring compliance with NFA and CFTC regulations.
